Our first time trying out Boondockers Welcome. It is a network of RV hosts and guests. The hosts have space on their property for an RV, the guests are looking for a place to stay for a few nights. Brilliant! We were really excited to stay in the Port Angeles area in order to explore the Olympic Peninsula as well as the northern part of Olympic National Park. For the most part, National Parks are so huge it is impossible to stay in 1 location and explore the entire park. Our home base in Copalis Beach is good for exploring the South and West parts of the park but just too far away to hit up Port Angeles in a day trip. Our host in Port Angeles where we set up camp for 3 nights was amazing. Excellent location, excellent property. Feels good that there are people in this world willing to share what they have with others. Each morning a family of deer would walk by our camper, foraging for food. A great way to enjoy coffee and breakfast.

My favorite was hiking to Sol Duc Falls from the hot springs. After completing the hike, we went to the hot springs which felt incredible.
The views from the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center and the trail will be an experience I will never forget. For as far as the eye can see, untouched wilderness. We are so fortunate for the National Park System and the preservation of these pristine lands.
Looking forward to more of these types of adventures. I think our decision to do 2 week or 1 month stays in one location and then do 2-3 night boondocks from our home base was a wise move. It will give us peace of mind and a place to unwind yet also provide flexibility to get out and explore places less traveled or places just out of reach of a day trip.
In addition to meeting our great host, we met another guest that was also an RV Life full-timer. She has been at it for 2 years now and loves it. At first she thought she would only do it 6 months but enjoyed it so much that she still calls her RV home. She reminded us of the character Fern in Nomadland. We are meeting people from all walks of life. This lifestyle is not just about travel and adventure, it is about the people and relationships you form along the journey.
