In the Klamath River Basin sits a small town named Chiloquin. Our Boondockers Welcome host was situated in the forest on the outskirts of Chiloquin, along the Sprague River. We visited Collier State Park and the Collier Lumber Museum. The museum housed so much antique lumber equipment — wood burning locomotives, classic Catepillar bulldozers, lumber and paper mill steam engines, oxen carts, antique chainsaws, and more. It really felt like traveling back in time. Very cool. And situated along the crystal clear waters of Spring Creek, it is unfortunate a wild fire burned the area a couple years ago, but the natural beauty is still present.

We drove into the town of Klamath Falls and along the Upper Klamath Lake, the headwaters of the Klamath River that flows out into the Pacific Ocean at the town of Klamath, California. Laundry day and hair cut day. RV Life isn’t glamorous all the time 🙂 Sometimes the unexpected discoveries make for a great day. Today, we had two such finds. First, a Mexican bakery ran by an elderly lady out of a house converted to a business. Nothing fancy, but the sweet bread and cream-filled empanadas were outstanding. We also picked up a couple of tamales for dinner, also a nice treat. The second find was the little Rotorua Garden. Literally a few plants and bushes with a sign, but to us it held special meaning. Klamath Falls, Oregon and Rotorua, New Zealand are sister cities. On our vacation to the North Island of New Zealand we visited the town of Rotorua. Another unexpected discovery, a little rose garden, named Klamath Falls Garden. It is these types of discoveries that makes travel special to me.

We plan on getting an early start in the morning, tomorrow will be our longest leg of this trip. Next stop, Carson City, Nevada. Thank you to our Boondockers Welcome hosts in Chiloquin, Oregon. They just bought an RV and they plan on taking a year long trip next year. I hope the experience is everything they hoped for and more. See you down the road.
