Damon Point has some interesting history. Once a Washington State Park, the road out to the point washed away during a massive storm. They never rebuilt the road and now there is a road to nowhere in the middle of the point. But it is still a great place for a beach hike.
We saw lots of birds including pelicans. And big swarms of tiny birds — starlings I think. Also saw a beached shark. It was still alive but unable to make it back to the water.
I grabbed it by the tail and dragged it back to the sea. It swam away and seemed pretty grateful. It’s a good feeling when you can give back to nature.
After a long hike — 5 miles in sand is tough sledding — we decided to try a new spot for a brew. Elk Head Tap Room in Ocean Shores. Very cool spot. Seems like this is the spot where the locals hang. Great snack mix and great beers. Today was a good day.
