We have been living in Copalis Beach for nearly a month and have not yet visited the State Park that borders our RV park.  Time to rectify that.  Griffiths-Priday State Park does not have alot of services — just a bathroom and a group shelter.  But it does not lack in beach — lots of sandy beach to explore.  There is a hiking “trail” but it requires a machete to hack your way through grass and underbrush.

Best to stick to the beach πŸ™‚  While we were walking along the miles of beach, we discovered what at first appeared to be a very large piece of driftwood.  However as we got closer, Emi believed it was a whale.  I was skeptical and stuck to my first impression — driftwood.  But as we got closer and closer, Emi was right, it was a very big, very dead whale.  Emi thinks it was a minke whale and I would have to agree.

While a little morbid and sad, it was an incredible sight to see.  Just don’t make the mistake of being directly downwind.  I made that mistake but quickly turned around πŸ™‚

Another adventure in Copalis Beach.
